LORD,
Grant that I may seek rather to Comfort than be comforted,
To Understand rather than to be understood,
To Love than to be loved.
For it is by Giving that one receives,
By Forgiving that one is forgiven,
And by Dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.

You have come in & washed me, healed me, released me, set my feet on solid ground. You have done this. If I am any other way it is because the enemy & his schemes have been let in. Please guard me & protect me from his ways. Let me be diligent in your Word & in prayer to keep myself from him. Give me insight. Give me eyes to see & ears to hear from You. Fill me with the power of your Holy Spirit. You can move mountains through me! Let me be conscious of your power & strength today that dwells in me. I am free! You have delivered me, set me free. You have the victory! Let me walk in that victory unmoved!

Do not those who always think of their own profit & gain prove that they love themselves rather than Christ? Where can a man be found who desires to serve God for nothing? And who shall find a man so truly poor in spirit as to be free from every comfort? His value is like that of things brought from the most distant lands.

If a man gives all his wealth, it is nothing. If he does great penance, it is little. If he gains all knowledge, he is still far afield. If he has great virtue & much ardent devotion, he still lacks a great deal & especially the one thing that is most necessary to him. What is this one thing? That is leaving it all. He must forsake himself - completely renounce himself - & give up all personal desires. Then when he has done all that he knows ought to be done, let him consider it as nothing. Let him make little of what may be considered great. Let him in all honesty call himself an unprofitable servant.

No one, however, is more wealthy than such a man. No one is more powerful. No one freer than he who knows how to leave all things & think of himself as the least of all.
